Nursery

Nursery

Our native plant nurser has the capacity to produces over 700,000 plants per annum, from over 300 endemic Perth species. We are able to provide premium coastal, wetland and Banksia woodland species from the entire Swan Coastal Plain can. We pride ourselves on the production of high quality stock and on the ability to produce difficult to propagate species that larger producers may not necessarily provide. To ensure high stock quality and germination success rates our nursery team is comprised of a number of qualified environmental scientists and horticulturists who are passionate about native flora and the role it plays in the restoration of our natural environment.

We can tailor plant stock to individual customer needs and propagate seedlings in etubes, forestry tubes, medium cells, deep cells, olive pots, 130 mm pots or bags (1.5 L, 11 L, 25 L, 100L). We have propagated sedges into sedge strips and hedge bags for foreshore restoration projects to reduce the likelihood of stock being washed away by strong tides. We pride ourselves on being able to propagate many recalcitrant species including Spinifex hirsutus, Lepidosperma sp., Baumea sp., Hibbertia sp., Acanthocarpus preissii among others and our ability to produce provenance specific stock. We have incorporated the use of an automated nursery capable of producing a variety of wetland sedges and reeds, and other bush land tree and shrub species.  The automated direct seeder enables fast production of certain high demand species in large quantities.

The nursery is fully accredited by the Nursery and Garden Industry Australia (NGIA). In 2011 our nursery won Best Small Production Nursery at the Nursery and Garden Industry Awards, recognising the efforts and achievements of our team. In 2012 the nursery was a finalist (and only nursery) in the WA branch of the AWA Water Awards in the category of Conservation and Efficiency. This category recognised the excellence of new products or systems to improve and encourage water conservation. The water system in the new section of the nursery features a water recapture and treatment system, allowing for the reuse of water and reduction of bore water use. The capturing of rain water is another feature of the new nursery infrastructure, recently two new tanks have been installed to expand our ability to store and use rain water.
